Fisherman’s Friends Headline 'Hope for Cornwall' Event

Written by Robyn Pound-Woods

We are excited to share that Scarlet and Bedruthan Hotels' CEO, Emma Stratton, is at the forefront of a special cultural event that brings together Cornwall’s vibrant arts and business communities to address one of the region's most pressing issues: the housing crisis.

The event, titled "Hope for Cornwall," will be held at the Hall for Cornwall on Tuesday, 17th September and aims to shine a light on community-driven solutions to the housing challenges facing the Duchy.

Emma Stratton, who has been a passionate advocate for sustainable community development, is playing a central role in organising this one-of-a-kind event. "Hope for Cornwall" will feature a stellar lineup of Cornish talent, including the renowned Fisherman’s Friends, The Story Republic, Seamas Carey, and Catrina Davies. The evening will be hosted by adventurer and writer Gail Muller, offering attendees an inspiring mix of music, performance, and thought-provoking discussions.

Beyond entertainment, the event will also spotlight innovative local solutions to the housing crisis, with presentations on initiatives like The Acre Project, which empowers communities to create and manage affordable housing. Stratton’s leadership in this initiative highlights her deep commitment to ensuring that Cornwall remains a thriving place for both residents and artists.

"Hope for Cornwall is not just a celebration of our rich artistic heritage, it’s a call to action."- Emma Stratton

"Hope for Cornwall is not just a celebration of our rich artistic heritage," says Stratton. "It’s a call to action. The reality is that an increasing number of people, including those in our creative industries, can no longer afford to live in the place they love. By coming together as a community, we can explore and implement solutions that will secure a prosperous future for Cornwall."

Tickets for "Hope for Cornwall" are available through the Hall for Cornwall box office, with proceeds going to support The Acre Project and other local housing initiatives. Additionally, business sponsorships are available, which will help provide discounted tickets for members of the local community who might not otherwise be able to attend.
